National Hemophilia Foundation’s Washington Days

NHF’s Washington Days is an opportunity for people affected by bleeding disorders to advocate for issues that are important to the bleeding disorders community. Each year the National Hemophilia Foundation hosts a day for advocacy at the nation’s Capitol in Washington DC. Bleeding Disorders Association of South Carolina participates each year providing a voice for South Carolina’s bleeding disorder community and a strong unified commitment to the national community. In 2021, a record of close to 500 attendees from 47 states and Puerto Rico gathered virtually for the community advocacy event. We were among the represented Congressional districts and Hill visits. Participants of Washington Days are provided a briefing and training session held the day before the Capitol visit; talking points and key issues are discussed and reviewed. It is a great experience for everyone and if you are interested in attending, contact the Chapter for additional information on assistance with attending the NHF Washington Days and representing our state and Bleeding Disorders Association of South Carolina.

The 2022 NHF Washington Days will take place virtually on March 1-2, 2022.  Last year, volunteer advocates met with legislators and staff to discuss federal funding for bleeding disorder programs and access to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). The issues and priorities for 2022 Washington Days will be announced later this year. Join BDASC and community members throughout the nation on the hill and make your voice heard! Registration information can be found on the NHF Website here.
