Bleeding Disorders are rare, and those affected are often left unprepared to adjust to the diagnosis. STEP for Bleeding Disorders is our organization’s largest fundraiser. We serve the entire state of South Carolina with several hundreds families and individuals affected by hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease (vWD), genetic platelet disorders, and other very rare bleeding disorders. The funds we raise from this event help to provide education and supportive services, and direct financial aid to our 400+ families, including over 1000 individuals. Proceeds also fund our advocacy initiatives protecting access to health care and quality treatment, and research for a cure. We work in collaboration with our treatment centers and the staff that care for our community. As South Carolina’s leading resource for adults, children, and families affected by bleeding disorders, we are committed to maintain a close relationship with our community. We provide the opportunity to network with other families experiencing the same situations, seeking guidance and emotional support for an often anxiety-ridden and frightening diagnosis. We support our families from the initial diagnosis throughout their lifetime and we are a tight-knit community family.
